User Profile

Your profile combines onboarding details, public identity, ratings, and your visible services. During onboarding, profile completion is the required step after phone verification.

How profile edit fits into onboarding

  • If phone verification is not finished yet, the stage router sends you to Phone Edit first.
  • Once your stage is Phone Verified, the required onboarding page becomes Profile Edit.
  • After you save the required profile data successfully, the next required page is Activate Access.

Edit your own profile

The Profile Edit page is where you manage your public identity. It's a crucial step in the onboarding process and remains accessible for updates anytime.

  • Purpose: To create and maintain your personal and professional identity on the platform. This information helps other members get to know you.
  • Access: This page is a mandatory step after phone verification during onboarding. Later, you can access it from the account menu to update your details.
  • Fields and Validations:
    • Full Name:
      • Purpose: Your identity on the platform.
      • Validation: Must be at least 2 characters long and can only contain letters and spaces.
    • Introduction:
      • Purpose: A brief bio to introduce yourself to the community. Share your skills, interests, and what you hope to gain from and contribute to Solidarity.
      • Validation: Required field, with a maximum length of 2000 characters. Bios are moderated and cannot include hateful or discriminatory content targeting people or groups, sexual content, medical offers, childcare offers, financial activity, violence, terrorism, illegal activity, profane language, or obvious gibberish.
    • Country and City:
      • Purpose: Used for location-based service searches and for connecting with members in your area.
      • Validation: Both are required fields. The list of cities dynamically updates based on the selected country.
    • Time Zone:
      • Purpose: Ensures that session times are displayed correctly according to your local time, which is critical for scheduling.
      • Process: Use the detect-time-zone button to fill in your current time zone, or choose one manually from the dropdown list.
    • Profile Picture:
      • Purpose: Adds a personal touch to your profile, making it more engaging and trustworthy.
      • Process: You can upload a picture from your device. The image will be displayed on your public profile and next to your name in communications.
      • Preview: On Profile Edit, click your avatar to open a full-size profile picture dialog.
  • Saving Your Profile:
    • After filling out the required fields, click the "Save" button.
    • If the save is successful and you are in the onboarding process, you will be automatically redirected to the access activation page.

Required profile details

  • Full name: required for your visible member identity.
  • Introduction: required so other members can understand who you are and what kind of help you offer or need.
  • Country and city: required for location-based use across the site.
  • Time zone: used so sessions and availability are shown correctly.
  • Profile picture: optional in the help flow, but supported directly from the same page.

Public profile pages

User Public shows another member's public profile, active public services, and provider unavailability. The unavailability section appears at the end of the page and shows unavailable times of day, weekdays, and date ranges in the provider's time zone. From there, you can also open that member's performance page, report page, and service pages.

  • Active members can add or remove another active member from favourites using the heart action near the top of the public profile page.
  • The heart action is hidden on your own profile.
  • Saved profiles appear on the dedicated Favourites page in the left-hand side menu.

Ratings and comments

Solidarity keeps separate provider and receiver ratings. Session ratings and comments affect the displayed averages shown on user and service views.

Time zone guidance

Your saved profile time zone is the main setting for date and time handling across member pages. It controls how request and session dates are shown to you, how new request and self-arranged-session times are interpreted, and how session emails show times for you.

Keep this set to the place where you are currently using Solidarity, not just the country where you usually live. If you travel and want to use Solidarity in the new place, update your profile time zone first. Normal summer and winter clock changes are handled automatically when you use a real time zone.
